The dairy company “Lufra” started in 1992 and our work has been improving since then.
“Lufra” started as a simple improvised workshop in one of the rooms of the house, with the limited capacity equipment (up to 1000 liters of milk per day). The technology used produced only one item: white cheese at a temperature of 84 degrees.

In terms of food safety for the consumer in accordance with the standards, Lufra has managed to obtain the ISO 22000: 2005 certification. We have made additional investments in the direction of cleaning the equipment with the CIP system (Automatic washing system), as well as the water filtration line (osmosis). For the work success we give a great importance to the quality of the raw material. We cooperate with the largest farms in the country, which have from 400 to 800 cows.
The technological equipment of a few years ago was completely replaced with new equipment with a capacity of over 20,000 liters per day (or 200 times higher than the capacity at the beginning of the workshop, 18 years ago). The production process was automated and guaranteed the production of dairy products in function of the growing demand and the well defined standards by the legislation.
This year brought a real revolution in terms of investment in production technology, increasing the quality of products with full nutritional values according to our consumer taste.
Lufra brings for the fourth time in the entire Balkan region the most hygienic packaging in the world for fresh products, TetraTop packaging with ESL system (extended shelf life). The processing line is now fully automatic, from the raw material to the packaging of the final product.
The biggest and most innovative investment for “Lufra” starts, which puts it in the same line with the highest quality companies around the world. Cooperation with two giant companies, “Priamo” of the group “Della Toffola” for processing and “TetraPak” for packaging.
Lufra quadruples the production capacity and geographical spread of products throughout Albania, taking a very big step ahead of its domestic competitors.
We have set up a modern laboratory, which carries out complete and comprehensive analysis of chemical, bacteriological and organoleptic indicators of raw materials and final products.

The plant’s groundwater and wastewater treatment plant and ecological biomass boilers reduce soil and air pollution to a minimum. Through the cooperation with TetraPak, we have replaced a part of plastic packaging with cardboard packaging, which is produced from renewable sources. If we do not have a pure nature, we can never have such a quality raw material and definitely not a high quality dairy product.
Lufra buys Meggle’s German factory in Rrogozhina. Meggle is a subsidiary of the German dairy company Meggle AG and entered Albania in 2010, after buying the local company Fast and trading under the Fast brand. From this acquisition, Lufra owns a land area of 8,000 square meters and milk processing lines, insulated tanks, homogenizer, pasteurizer, sterilizer, UHT milk filling lines and fermented products. Filling capacity approximately 35 000 liters, water filtration equipment, boilers, warehouse and office premises.
Another strategic development during this year which makes a big step towards the realization of our mission was the start of exports to the US followed by the opening of our branch in Pristina, Kosovo where we expect to start selling in the first days of January 2022.

The geographical expansion in Kosovo and the increase of the range of products exported to the USA is only one of the objectives of 2022. We have planned to put some new products on the market which we believe will be welcomed by our customers with enthusiasm! More support for farmers through a still ‘secret’ but very interesting project to be discovered in 2022.
